Overview

Deployables, while small, can be essential to any player's activities and offer civilian applications ranging from keeping up to date with ship movements and station prices with satellites to responsively protecting an area of space with lasertowers and mines. The deploy object order handles all deployables and allows the player to remotely instruct one of their ships to release deployables individually at locations chosen through the map interface.

Configuration

Select the ship that is to deploy the desired item in the map interface (LEFT-CLICK)

RIGHT-CLICK the desired location of the object in the map and navigate to the header that reads "Deploy at Position" and then hover over one of one of the following to then select the desired item:

Civilian	Advanced Satellites, Satellites, Resource Probes
Military	Lasertowers, Mines

After making a selection the order arrow can be dragged around in the map and even moved up and down by holding the SHIFT key.

For deploying large amounts of deployables in one location it is easier to navigate to the ship's loadout tab and scroll down to Deployables. Selecting the desired item and select the "Deploy" button as many times as the deployable is required.

Skill Effects

Pilot and crew skill do not effect this order.

Applications

Exploration is quite an important part of X4 and in some cases areas may have been explored by the player but not had satellites placed at key locations, rather than doing it manually it is much quicker and less tedious to simply order another ship to deploy satellites by queueing up a series of deploy orders for satellites. Additionally, Xenon or some other hostile faction could be making regular, small incursions into a key sector and it is too expensive to build a defence platform so lasertowers could be a good stopgap but again deploying lots of lasertowers can be tedious so it may be simpler to just remotely order a ship to do it instead.

Caveats

When given a map location ships will only deploy objects one at a time, use the loadouts tab to workaround this.
