Encyclopedia Description

Built in many systems during the Jump Gate shutdown, accelerators allowed cut off star systems access to larger regions of their own space. Like super-highways, the technology for these accelerators is based off of more advanced Terran technology studied while the Sol system was still connected to the Jump Gate network.

Overview

Trans Orbital Accelerators (often simply TOA's or Accelerators) are a means of moving between different sectors instantaneously as in the case of flying between Silent Witness XI and XII.  For trading it is important to note that transiting a Trans Orbital Accelerator counts as a "Jump" with many trading routines having an upper limit of 5 jumps. It is important to ensure that they (or their commanding station) are positioned appropriately to ensure their destinations are at most 5 Trans Orbital Accelerator (or Jump Gate) crossings away.

Terran Accelerators

In X4 Cradle of Humanity's development, Terran Trans Orbital Accelerators were planned and modelled but were never implemented. Currently a mod exists to implement them in new savegames.

Notes

Jump Gates and Trans Orbital Accelerators are functionally identical in that they connect clusters together, more info available in Mechanics of X4's Map Design.
