This system is named after Princess Menelaus, who used it as a personal retreat on her visits to the Boron colonies in the far-away "south east" of the old Jump Gate network. However, as the surrounding systems became more conflict-prone, particularly because of the border with the war-like Split, the location was eventually deemed too unsafe for the heir apparent to the Boron throne. Instead, the Boron parliament appointed a royal council to oversee the ever-growing resource shipments to this fledgling part of the Queendom.

When the Jump Gates began to shut down all over the former network, Menelaus' Oasis was among the first Boron systems to lose their connection to their capital in Kingdom End. Thanks in no small part to the royal council's already well-advanced efforts to import Nishala's flora and fauna, the population of the local planet, Ayeshma, endured, and since its rediscovery, it has once again become a popular tourist destination.
