Overview

Plots are major story missions that can drastically alter the balance of power within the x-universe, they serve as a means for the player to promote or restrict war and unlock certain features. Some plots are included with the basegame while others are included with DLC, so far each DLC has added at least 1 plot. Plots vary significantly in duration, difficulty and outcome and some have a variety of possible outcomes so it may take players multiple playthroughs to experience every possible outcome.

The Player Headquarters, Hatikvah Trade Revolution, Empyrean Curs (Tides of Avarice) and Boron Reunification (Kingdom End) plots each serve as tutorials in addition to being plots and are highly recommended for new players.

DLC Plot Addition Breakdown

Each of X4's DLCs have brought with it new sets of plot missions covering the different themes of each expansion. Each DLC plot can be accessed from any game start (though there are also some game start-specific missions that require a DLC gamestart to be chosen).

Player Headquarters Plot 
  • A gamestart that is not "Terran Cadet", "Project Genesis","The Accomplished Scientist" or a custom gamestart with the headquarters set to complete.
  • Kingdom End DLC inactive at the time the plot is commenced, if Kingdom End is active and the starts listed in the bullet above were not chosen the player headquarters will be in Heretic's End and there is no mission chain.
Boron Reunification Plot 
  • Located within 2 “Jumps” of Heretic's End or choosing the "Emergence" game start
  • Player Headquarters (with the  Kingdom End DLC this can be obtained within the original plot)
Hatikvah Trade Revolution Plot 
  • Neutral relations with the Hatikvah Free League
  • Located within 2 “Jumps” of Hatikvah’s Choice
Segaris Terraforming Plot 
Yaki Investigation Plot 
  • +5 with the Terran Protectorate (to initiate opening "Solborn Militia" sub-plot)
  • Located in Terran sectors
  • Player Headquarters Plot (for later stages of the missions)
