Overview

The collect drops order is a means to pickup all cargo containers located within the ship's radar range centred at the target location given by the player.

Configuration

Select the ship that is to collect the cargo containers (LEFT-CLICK in the map interface).

RIGHT-CLICK the location in the map to be the centre of the area in which to collect drops to open its context menu and select "order_collectdropsinradius.png Collect Drops".

This order will complete once all drops are collected from within the range.

Skill Effects

Pilot skill does not directly impact this order

Applications

Collect Drops can be paired with the repeat orders default behaviour to either prevent the order from completing once all drops are collected or to pair it with other behaviours in a loop

Example

As an example this ship is set up with repeat orders to alternate between attacking enemy ships around a location to collecting drops. If a hostile ship were to enter the sector via the nearby gate they would be destroyed and then any drops would be collected after all the fighting. This particular setup has the particular issue of getting caught out if there are waves of attackers as it could be busy collecting drops. To correct this subordinates should be assigned with bombard, defend or intercept roles (but not attack) to respond to new attackers, or in the case of defend, respond to attacks on the lead ship busy collecting drops.

Caveats

Players should be warned that instructing a ship to collect cargo that has been ejected from a station either from the player's or a pirate faction's hacking attempt will cause a temporary reputation loss with the station which can very easily escalate if the station is armed.

The ship will only collect drops in a 40km radius around the target location (more accurately it is calculated from its radar range which by default is 40km but can be adjusted with equipment modifications).
